Lithology and Thickness

It consists of an interbedding of brown-red sandstones, claystones, and clays 40-100 m thick.


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

They conformably or with slight erosion overlie the deposits of Berriasian, Middle Aptian or Upper Hauterivian - Middle Aptian.

Upper contact

They are conformably overlain by the deposits of the Cenomanian and Turonian.

Regional extent

In districts Turkestan, Zarafshan-Gissar, South Gissar, Karategin this horizon includes the entire suite, and in districts Dushanbe, Qafirnigan, Vakhsh, Zaalai and Darvaz districts - only the lower half of it.

Fossils

In the suite, shells of brackish and freshwater bivalves and ostracods Cardita minicostata Anupr., Cypridea sangardakens are known.
